The dive
How
all of the lakes, also here it is necessary take caution to the order
and not to approach too much to the backdrop in order to avoid to put
in suspension the very fine sediment, typical of environments of low energy.
The underwater environment is very fascinating for the special feelings
that succeeds to transmit the underwater. Diving in the Lake of Posta
Fibreno is very different from diving in other places. The lake’s
outstanding visibility allows divers at depth to see people walking along
the beaches of the lake and clouds running across the sky. From behind
the filter of the clear, icy water of the lake at Posta Fibreno, the external
world, the non-aquatic world, appears very different. However, once in
the water, divers become a part of this vulnerable ecosystem, so it is
important that they be very careful not to disturb it; excellent buoyancy
control and a refined skill-set go a long way in minimizing human impact
on this beautiful, but fragile, ecosystem. Observing the banks is very
easy to bump into a nàue, a typical boat
of the place, entirely in wood and from the deep one entirely dish. The
nàue is realized with oak of wood of
aces nailed and glued between them with a special mixture of musk and
flour and capable of to transport a loaded with 7/8 quintals. Such boat
seems is very like to that already in use I press the ancient peoples
italici. A particularity is that after to have used it, the nàue,
comes immersed in the lake so that the rays of the sun and the dampness
do not distort it, and every anytime again should be used goes brace outside
from the water and emptied entirely.
Despite their bad reputation, meeting a Coypus underwater is still a fantastic
experience, especially if one is lucky enough to meet a brave individual
or one accustomed to the presence of human beings. Being careful not to
scare it, observing the graceful underwater movements of these animals
is quite a treat. Viewing one of these animals swimming free, in the clean,
clear, cold waters of the Lake of Posta Fibreno must surely be one of
the most treasured memories a scuba diver can have.
An other peculiarity of the area is the presence, perhaps the only in
Europe and cited in the past from Plinio in his work “Naturalis
Historia”, of an island floating, the rota, formed over thousands
of years through an accumulation of algae, grass, shrubs and trees, is
not anchored to the bottom of the lake but is mobile, and moves in different
directions depending on wind velocity. From 1983 the area was submitted
to environmental protection, actual to want to protect the natural particularity
that mark it; is an of the naturalistic oasis more interesting and incontaminate
in Central Italy, rich of flora and of fauna lake
