In relation to environmental research:

It was formulated a convention between ICRAM, Ministry of Environment and Region of Liguria to:

Localization, accessibility, removal and disposal of the liquid hydrocarbons still present in the main wreck; evaluation of the real extension of the contaminated sea bottom and the persistence of pollutants, importance and extension of the residues of hydrocarbons sunk with the wreck; effectiveness and sustainibility of the clean up, determination of the methodologies and suitable tools for the remediation; evaluation of the persistence of damages suffered by the seagrass and relevant possibility of their restoration and protection.
